Core symbolism and the meaning of each card for daily life, finances, relationships, spirituality, and yes or no questions.
Classic Lenormand: what each card means, how it combines with others, and what it says about daily life, finances, relationships, spirituality, and yes or no questions.
The Italian 52-card oracle: what each card means, how it combines with others, and what it says about daily life, finances, relationships, spirituality, and yes or no questions.
Tarot de Marseille is a historic family of 78-card decks. This guide uses images from an edition based on Nicolas Conver's model and offers a contemporary reading for study and reflection.
Card of the day or week. Draw a card in the morning, or on Sunday, and read it as guidance for the energy of that period.
Work, money, projects, and material decisions. Use for reflection: this does not replace professional advice.
Love, partnerships, and bonds. For couples and singles, as well as friendships and family.
Magical practice, intuition, and self-knowledge: rituals, moon cycles, herbs, ancestors, and shadow work.
Ask a clear question, shuffle, and draw a card.
Yesthe energy is favorable: move forward.
Maybeit depends on you, timing, or missing information.
Nothe energy blocks progress or calls for another path.
Page: student, messages, beginnings.
Knight: action, movement, extremes.
Queen: inner mastery, care, intuition.
King: outer mastery, leadership, responsibility.
Each card also includes its shadow side: the general shadow and a warning for each area.
Reversed cards: tap “Reverse the card” to see the upside-down reading. A reversal is not the shadow side: it is the card's energy turned inward, delayed, held back, or under review.
Discover the Major Arcanum linked to your birth date, your name, each year of your life, or any sum. Choose the method and calculation rules.
Birth date: add the date and reduce the total by adding its digits until you reach a number from 0 to 21 or 22. The result is your personal arcanum. If it has two digits, reducing it once more gives the soul arcanum.
Year arcanum: add your birth day and month to the chosen year. This shows the theme for each year of your life.
Name: each letter has a value from 1 to 9 (A=1, B=2… I=9, J=1…). Add the letter values and reduce the total.
Choose an arcanum: displays any of the 22 Major Arcana directly, ready to share.
Custom sum: add the numbers of drawn cards (for example, to find a spread's "quintessence") or any number that is meaningful to you.
Numbering: in the older Tarot de Marseille, 8 is Justice and 11 is Strength. Arthur Edward Waite switched their positions in Rider-Waite (1909). The same sum can therefore give Justice in one book and Strength in another: choose the numbering of the tradition you follow.
Choose the method, reading area, and card for each position. Each shows a brief meaning, light and shadow, to help you build the context and answer the querent.
The number meanings draw primarily on Alejandro Jodorowsky and Marianne Costa. The everyday applications and spiritual suggestions are editorial adaptations by this site. Other schools interpret the same cards differently.
In the deck used here, Justice is VIII, Strength is XI, and The Fool has no printed number. In Rider-Waite-Smith, Justice and Strength occupy positions XI and VIII. Some methods assign The Fool the value 22 for calculations; the calculator indicates when it uses this convention.
The numbered cards display suit emblems in ornamental arrangements, generally without Rider-Waite-Smith's narrative scenes. Here we combine a symbolic number sequence (Ace seed, 2 accumulation, 3 explosion, 4 stability, 5 new interest, 6 pleasure, 7 action, 8 fulfillment, 9 crisis, 10 completion) with each suit's themes. Also observe the elements' arrangement, intersections, and spaces. The number offers an initial hypothesis to adjust to the question and the overall spread.
Suits: Batons, creative energy and desire. Cups, emotions and affection. Swords, mind and speech. Coins, matter, body, and money.
A card can suggest resources, tensions, or excesses even when upright. The question, position, and surrounding cards help determine which aspect to explore. The meanings offer starting points; they do not necessarily describe your situation.
Valet, Knight, Queen, and King represent functions (learning, exploring, sustaining, directing) that anyone can express, at any age or of any gender.
These classifications are this guide's reading conventions. A card may favor one action and advise against another. Before using the short answer, define the question and consider the context. The result does not confirm events, other people's feelings, or health conditions.
The spiritual suggestions are contemporary associations and optional practices. Adapt them to your beliefs or use them simply as reflection exercises; they do not represent a single historical meaning of the cards.
Reversed cards: tap “Reverse the card” to see the upside-down reading. A reversal is not the shadow side: it is the card's energy turned inward, delayed, held back, or under review.
The same personal, year, name, and sum arcanum calculations, using Marseille numbering: 8 is Justice and 11 is Strength. The calculator establishes a symbolic correspondence according to the chosen rule; the result is a theme for reflection, not a description of your personality.
Birth date: add the date and reduce the total by adding its digits until you reach a number from 1 to 21 (or 22, depending on the rule). E.g.: 15/07/2004, adding the parts: 15 + 7 + 2004 = 2026; 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, The Wheel of Fortune. Adding all digits: 1 + 5 + 0 + 7 + 2 + 0 + 0 + 4 = 19, The Sun. Different rules give different results, and both are consistent with the chosen rule. If the result has two digits, reducing it once more gives the soul arcanum.
Year arcanum: add your birth day and month to the chosen year. This uses the calendar year (January through December), not the interval between birthdays. E.g.: born on 15/07, year 2026: 15 + 7 + 2026 = 2048; 2 + 0 + 4 + 8 = 14, Temperance.
Name: each letter has a value from 1 to 9 (A=1, B=2… I=9, J=1…). Accents and cedillas are ignored (É counts as E, Ç as C), spaces and punctuation do not count, and the name is used exactly as entered. E.g.: ANA = A(1) + N(5) + A(1) = 7, The Chariot.
Choose an arcanum: displays any of the 22 Major Arcana directly, ready to share.
Custom sum: add the numbers of drawn cards or any number that is meaningful to you.
The Fool and 22: The Fool has no printed number, and the numbered arcana run from I to XXI. Under the “Up to 22” rule, 22 is a convention allowing the sum to land on The Fool: the screen shows “22 = The Fool”. Under “Up to 21”, anything above 21 is reduced again, so The Fool never appears as a result.
Strengths and weaknesses: these are themes for reflection, with possible resources and difficulties. Birth dates and names do not establish psychological traits.
Choose the method, reading area, and card for each position. The brief meanings are starting points: the reading develops through the relationships among the cards, question, and position. Future and outcome are scenarios for reflection, not predictions. The methods are the same as in Rider-Waite; the Celtic Cross, for example, became known through Waite and is used here for convenience.
In Lenormand, cards are rarely read alone. The first card is the theme and the next qualifies that theme.
E.g.: The Ship + The Heart = travel and changes with love and affection. The Heart + The Ship = love and feelings with distance or travel.
They represent the querent (man or woman) or the central people in the question. In the Grand Tableau, the cards around them show what surrounds that person.
Some cards have very different meanings: in Lenormand, The Moon is recognition, The Tower is an institution, and The Cross is burden and fate.
Yesthe card is favorable.
Maybeit depends on neighboring cards, timing, or a choice.
Nothe card blocks progress or calls for care.
Each card is also classified as positive, neutral, or challenging.
Each card includes a standard playing card (e.g.: 9 of Hearts on The Rider). This is a tradition of XIX-century Lenormand decks and is useful for those who combine Lenormand with playing-card cartomancy.
Each card also includes its shadow side: the general shadow and a warning for each area.
Discover the Lenormand card linked to your birth date, your name, each year of your life, or any sum. The result is always one of the 36 cards.
Birth date: add the date and, if the result exceeds 36, add its digits until you reach a number from 1 to 36. This is your personal card.
Birth day: a popular method in Brazil: someone born on the 24th has The Heart; someone born on the 9th has The Bouquet.
Year card: add your birth day and month to the chosen year and reduce to 36 or below.
Name: each letter has a value from 1 to 9 (A=1, B=2… I=9, J=1…). Add the letter values and reduce the total to 36 or below.

The 52 cards follow a standard playing-card deck, from Ace to King in each suit.
♥ Hearts (1–13): feelings, love, and joy.
♣ Clubs (14–26): luck, contracts, and achievements.
♦ Diamonds (27–39): news, money, and practical matters.
♠ Spades (40–52): trials, losses, and warnings.
The Lover (11) and The Beloved (12) represent the querent and the loved one. In La Tavolata, the cards around them show what surrounds them.
As in Lenormand, the first card is the theme and the next qualifies it. E.g.: The Journey + Love = travel and changes with true love.
Yesthe card is favorable.
Maybeit depends on neighboring cards, timing, or a choice.
Nothe card blocks progress or calls for care.
Sibilla is a XIX-century Italian oracle, still widely used in Italy. The original Italian names appear beside each card.
Each card also includes its shadow side: the general shadow and a warning for each area.
Discover the Sibilla card linked to your birth date, your name, each year of your life, or any sum. The result is always one of the 52 cards.
Birth date: add the date and, if the result exceeds 52, add its digits until you reach a number from 1 to 52. This is your personal card.
Birth day: a popular method in Brazil: someone born on the 4th has Love; someone born on the 18th has Fortune.
